Honma's Computer Life [ほんまたけるのコンピュータのある生活]

標準の Date Book って、５分刻みでしか、予定を入力できない。これは、なんだか、インターフェースの問題で、PalmOS のレベル(という理解で良いのか分からないが)では、１分刻みでもだいじょうぶなのだそうだ。その機能を付け加える SelectTime HACK というソフトが最近開発された。詳しくは、作者の福本さんのページ、 http://www.umap.netを見てほしい。便利かも。

このソフトのおかげで、Date Book の時刻設定の裏技を知る。それは、Date Book の一日の表示の画面で、どの event を選んでない状態で、数字を graffiti すれば、Set Time というダイアログを開くことができるということ。

実は、この機能、マニュアル(Application Handbook for the Palm III) の１９ページに書いてあった。

ただし、Set Time ダイアログの中で、数字を graffiti した時の動作については、記載無し。

ってことで、なんだか、Windows が目を離している隙に勝手にハングアップするというトラブルが数日前から続いた。HDD に問題があるようだったので、scandisk をかけてみた。すると、scandisk が終了する前か直後にハングするような感じで、何度も scandisk をかけることに。どうやら、システムエージェントが、defrag を起動しようとする時に問題が起こっているような気配を感じて、システムエージェントをサスペンドして、scandisk をかけてみた。scandisk は、無事終了し、今のところ問題はないみたい。

教訓：こまめに scandisk は、かけましょう。

LaTeX で書いたものを出版に回す時、「word-processable なファイルにしてくれ」とか言われることがある。word-processable ってなんだ？ってことになるけど、どうやら、Word, RTF, Claris, etc. のことらしい。うーむ、困った。LaTeX のソースをそのまま、渡しても、とんでもないことになるに違いないし。

で、書き上げたものを RTF とか何かにする手段がないか色々探してみる。

まず、LaTeX2rtf.exe ってのが、見つかる。でもこいつは、全然だめ。これで、処理できるように注意しながら、LaTeX のソース書けば、なんとかなるかもしれないが、そんなことおかまいなしに、書いたLaTeX のソースでは、なんともならない。

次は、dvi2tty とかだが、これは、UNIX 用しかない。

次は、GhostView で、[全体を選択]-[コピー]して、それから、エディタに貼り付ける。なんてのがありそうだか、うまくいかない。

GhostScritp に付いてきた ps2ascii.bat を使ってみた。これが、一番使えるかも。オリジナルの ps2ascii.bat では、GhostScript のコマンド名が、単にgs となっているから、これを例えば、gswin32c とかに変える必要がある。GhostScript のインストールのなんかについては、要望があれば、書くつもり。

ps2ascii.bat の中では、-dSIMPLE というパラメタが使ってあるんだけど、これを、取り除くと、フォントの指定などが、入ったかなりうるさいファイルが出来る。-dCOMPLEX を指定すると、色の情報とかも入るようだ。ちなみに、ps2ascii.bat は、ps からだけじゃなくて、PDF からもテキストが抽出できる。

ML って、変なメール流れるかもしれないよね。で、校閲 (moderate) することになる。Majordomo には、その機能がある。config で moderate = yes に設定すればよい。

さて、こういう設定にすると、メンバーを含め誰からのメールも管理者にbounce する。bounce したメールを実際に ML に流すには、このメールをapprove する必要がある。approve の方法については、例えば、 Majordomo Frequently Asked Questions に下のように書いてある。

3.10 - How do I set up a moderated list? How do I approve messages?

First, you need to tell Majordomo that the list is moderated. In the
configuration file for the list, you set "moderate = yes". Do not try
to use the now-deprecated "-A" option to resend. In fact you shouldn't
be using ANY options to resend except "-h" and "-l", since all the
others are handled in the config file.

Any mail which is not "approved", gets bounced with "Approval
required". If the moderator wishes to approve the message for the
list, then you need to tag the message as "approved" and send it to
the list. The "approve" script, which comes with Majordomo, automates
this for you. Whenever you get a message which needs approval, from
your mail reader pipe the message through "approve". The password for
each list needs to be put in your .majordomo file. Read the "approve"
script for more information.

If you don't have access to "approve" (e.g. you're not on a UNIX
system with Perl), you have to do it by hand. The easiest way is to
forward the original message to the list, add the line "Approved:
approval-password" to the very first line of the body, and then the
entire contents of the original message. (meaning there should not be
a blank line before and after the "Approved:" line.). Don't forget to
edit out the headers which were added by the bounce process.

It's also possible, if your mailer allows it, to approve a message
another way by just inserting an Approved: header in the original body
and passing the original message on without adding your own header.
This is in a sense "forging" mail, so many mailers either won't allow
it or will insert some sort of authentication warning. This form is
used most often by moderators when they send mail to the list and
don't want to go and approve their own message again. Here's an
example:
To: your-list@example.com
Approved: your-approval-password
Subject: Thanks!

I like this list too, but sorry, I'm married! :-)

Note that this requires a mail-user-agent (MUA) that allows one to add
headers to a message. If your MUA doesn't let you do this, you'll need
to use the first method.

Note that in either case the "Approved:" line will be stripped out by
Majordomo before it gets sent to the list, so the list members won't
see your list password.

つまり、二通りのやり方があるってわけだ。で、最初の方法の説明で、"Don't forget to edit out the headers which were added by the bounce process." と書いてある点に注意。具体的には、bounce メール自体のヘッダの他に、元のメールの先頭につく UNIX From なんかも、ちゃんと削らなきゃだめ。

そろそろ、JBook の原稿を仕上げなくてはならない。Optimality Theory のtableau の網掛け(shading)と縦の罫線を破線にする方法について、まとめ。

まず、tableau は、LaTeX の tabular 環境を使う。この生の tabular 環境ってやつは、あまり高性能じゃないので、そのままじゃ、OT の tableau なんて書けない。だって、OT の tableau は、網掛けしなきゃいけないし、場合によっては、縦の罫線を破線にしなきゃいけない。

破線の方は、arydshln.sty というものがあって、これがなかなか高性能。まあ、決定版でしょうね。

網掛けの方は、私が試したものとしては、次のようなものがある。

sha.sty の改良版	★ shade したい cell の指定が楽(cline と同じ syntax)。 ★ dvi の範囲内。	★ 遅い。古い？というか、CTAN に置いてない。
amikake.sty	★ 網掛けの濃さが調節可能。 ★ 早い。 ★ cline とほぼ同等。	★ 入手困難。CTAN には、置いてない。 ★ tpic special を解釈できる dviware が必要。 ★ dvipsk で PostScript にすると背景に書いてある文字も薄くなってしまう。 ★ さらに、ps2pdf(Ghostscript) でpdf に変換してみると、網掛けが文字を消してしまう。
pstricks+colortab	★ 網掛けの濃さが調節可能。 ★ 網掛けの指定がまあ楽。	★ arydshln.sty と相性が悪い。(罫線がうまく入らず、なんだか上に飛び出てしまう。)
colortbl	★ 罫線に色を付けたりできて楽しい。	★ arydshln.sty と相性が悪い。array.sty, arydshln.sty, colortbl.sty の順で読み込めば、何とか動くが、罫線が乱れる。その他の順序だとエラーが出る。

tableau を書くときに網掛けと縦罫線破線は、ともに重要。arydshln.sty を使わずに、tabular 環境の preamble に @{:} のようなものを入れて、誤魔化すか。はたまた、arydshln.sty を使うことにして、網掛けを、sha.sty 改良版にするかってことか？

arydshln と相性の上二つのうち、amikake.sty は、そもそも、ps ファイルや pdf ファイルに変換したときに、うまく網掛けになっていないので、そもそも、ps を使うような私の用途には向かない。

arydshln と相性の悪いやつの中で、pstricks+colortab の方が、shading の指定は、簡単なのだけど、エラーは、致命的。

colortbl.sty は、それなりに動く場合もあるのだが、shading の指定が難しい。

うーむ、悩ましい。

スピードのこと、マクロ・スタイルの一般性を考えると、arydshln.sty は、やめて、cell の間を区切る縦の破線を @{:} で、出すのが一番か？
